‘Clive’ is by Byalee Briar (imp), a magnificent palomino warmblood sired by Bjorsells Briar 899, who was the world’s number one dressage stallion for seven years. Briar was imported from Sweden as a 2yo and remains the only direct Briar stallion at stud in Australia. His grandsire Magini was an elite-listed Swedish stallion, as was Bjorsells Briar, and Magini was the sire of Grand Prix stallion Magritte, also imported to Australia. On the dam line, Briar is out of a Bernstein mare, with stallions by Bernstein standing at stud in the US and showing, as Briar does, great talent for piaffe and passage. Briar’s youngstock sell for as much as $72,000 under saddle and are competing at 3* eventing with huge success as well as in the dressage arena. On the dam line, Clive is out of a half-sister to Heath Ryan’s champion stallion Questing R, who has averaged almost 80% in dressage. His dam, Bonnita,  is by talented young stallion Finest, who carries lines of Furst Heinrich (Florestan) and Donnerhall as well as Weltmeyer and Prince Thatch. Clive is a bold, inquisitive, upstanding young colt who shows huge promise.

Buckskin colt 27/1/19 mature 17.1hh

‘What is the recipe for making my own Valegro?’ The Horse Magazine asked Carl Hester. ‘We know from a lot of the horses we’ve had, that if you can find your Ferro lines, then you are going to get a high level of work ethic, so that’s where you start.’ And so you start right here, with an Olympic Ferro mare as the dam of this majestic Byalee Briar colt, arguably the ‘best’ bred Briar on the ground to date, and boy can he move! Add to this the bottom line of Flemmingh and you would be hard pushed to find better Olympic breeding. Flemmingh is the sire of international Dutch dressage horses Krack C and Lingh (Edward Gal) while Ferro was the ‘black pearl’ was an Olympic silver medallist at Sydney 2000. ‘Bestie’ is by Byalee Briar, sired by Bjorsells Briar 899, who was the world’s number one dressage stallion for seven years. Bestie is not only a stunning mover but a bold, friendly chap who has been an absolute pleasure to prepare for Auction of the Stars when he was presented there, taking all aspects of the weaning process in his stride and showing a sensible attitude that augurs well for his professional dressage career. Bestie's mother Amy was sold for $90,000 at the peak of her career and was sold as a schoolmaster age 20 for $12,000, showing absolute trainability and THE most obedient dressage horse ever. With the blessing of Carl Hester and the breeding and temperament, how could Bestie fail?!
