Salao IX is a 4yo black PRE stallion literally just off the plane, the latest of the Byalee stallions and part of Auction of
the Stars., and we can't wait to see the future unfold for this amazing sire!
Holding a
Spanish passport, classified with ANCCE and already APTO registered and graded,
Salao offers the most royal of Spanish bloodlines from the Yeguada Militar (Royal
stud) and his pedigree is dotted with APTO and Calificado approved and elite
stallions – his blood is the bluest of blue! Standing at 17hh at 4yo, Salao was
registered and graded prior to his arrival in Australia.
Whilst still maturing
under saddle, Salao shows a generous overtrack in the walk, a ground-covering
uphill canter and a scopey trot that promises much for the future – and on top
of that, Salao has an amazing temperament that sees him described as a
teddybear! He challenges Byalee Briar for the title of the quietest horse on the property ... really is the kind of hunk that belongs in a calendar and yet loves attention and is the most gentle of personalities.
Salao’s grandsire Ermitano III is the first Spanish stallion (one of
only two ever) to be both elite and improver breeding classified, an accolade
awarded on the basis of the genetic assessment of his descendants on a Global
Genetic Index. Legendary dam sire Obcecado, also from Yeguada Militar (the
Royal Stud), was three times Andalusian champion in Spain while HIS famous sire
Bizarra VI also sired 2004 Olympian silver medallist Oleaje as well as many
Calificado sires, while Oleaje in turn went on to sire champion stallion Habanero,
who stands at stud in the US. Yeguada Militar bloodlines are some of the most
sought-after in the world and we are expecting great contributions to our gene
pool in terms of piaffe and passage from Salao – watch this space!
Salao stands at stud with a service fee of $1500 including GST.
